About Long Beach Island

Long Beach Island is approximately 18 miles long. There is only one bridge to get on the island by car. The bridge hits Long Beach Island in the middle of the island in a town called Ship Bottom.

The north side of Long Beach Island is quiet and does not have as many shops, restaurants and bars as the south side of Long Beach Island. Beach Haven is located on the south end of the island. If you are young and looking for a place to party, Beach Haven is for you. Out of the 100,000 people that are on the island in the summer about 8,000 of them are year round residents. It is a common belief that the island shuts down after labor day, but this is not true. There are plenty of businesses that stay open year round.
